What Is Personal Training?

Personal training is a professional service that provides clients with customized fitness guidance and coaching to help them reach their health and fitness goals. This can include creating a personalized exercise plan, providing nutritional advice, and monitoring progress. A personal trainer works one-on-one with clients to help them maximize their workouts, improve their form, and stay motivated. Personal training can be an effective way to achieve weight loss, increase muscle mass, improve flexibility, and boost overall health and well-being.

What Do Personal Trainers Do

At Lloyd Personal Training, personal trainers are fitness professionals who provide individualized training to help their clients reach their fitness goals. They begin by evaluating their clients’ current fitness level, health history, and lifestyle factors that could impact their training. From there, personal trainers design a customized exercise plan that takes into account their clients’ goals, preferences, and any limitations or injuries. During training sessions, personal trainers guide their clients through each exercise, correcting their form and providing motivation to ensure proper technique and prevent injury. They also track their clients’ progress and adjust their training plan to keep them challenged and on track. Furthermore, personal trainers often provide advice on nutrition and lifestyle changes to support their clients’ overall health and fitness. Overall, personal trainers are essential partners for individuals looking to improve their fitness, reach their goals, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

What Are Some Benefits of Personal Training?

  1. Motivation: Personal trainers provide the motivation you need to stay focused and committed to your fitness goals. They offer support and encouragement, helping you stay on track even when you feel like giving up.
  2. Variety: Personal trainers can incorporate a variety of exercises and techniques into your workout plan, keeping your workouts interesting and challenging. This variety can help prevent boredom and keep you engaged in your fitness routine.
  3. Injury Prevention: Personal trainers can help prevent injuries by teaching you proper form and technique, and by designing a workout plan that takes into account any existing injuries or limitations. They can also provide modifications to exercises to accommodate any injuries or limitations.
  4. Efficiency: Personal training is an efficient way to achieve your fitness goals. Your personal trainer will design a workout plan that is tailored to your needs, helping you make progress faster than if you were working out on your own.

How Often Should I Train With A Personal Trainer?

Personal training can be an effective way to reach your fitness goals, but it’s important to understand how often you should be training to maximize your results.

If you’re just starting out with personal training, two sessions per week are typically recommended. This frequency allows you to build a solid foundation of strength and endurance while allowing for sufficient recovery time between sessions. As you progress, you can increase your frequency to three to four sessions per week to continue to challenge your body and achieve greater results.

It’s important to note that training frequency alone won’t guarantee results – it’s also important to focus on other aspects of your training such as nutrition, recovery, and consistency. Working with a personal trainer can help you optimize all aspects of your training and achieve your goals more efficiently.

Ultimately, the key to maximizing your results with personal training is to find the right balance of frequency, intensity, and consistency. Consult with a personal trainer to develop a personalized training plan that takes into account your individual goals, fitness level, and lifestyle.

Portland Personal Trainer & Lloyd Athletic Club Reviews

Read our 100% human reviews, no fakes!

I’ve been training with Chase at the Lloyd Athletic Club for over 2 months and she has been incredible. I’ve had a hard time getting back into shape after cancer treatments, and Chase has been so helpful. She’s knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. I have already made a ton of progress and am feeling stronger and healthier. The gym itself is great. It feels really welcoming and well-equipped.

I have been a member of Lloyd Athletic Club for about three or four years and began seeing Carlee Roe at Portland Personal Training (located at Lloyd) last August though due to traveling and then the pandemic, I didn’t have access to training from January through June. Now that the gym has reopened in Phase 1, I have started back for the past few weeks. Carlee and the staff at Lloyd Athletic Club/Portland Personal Training have been following protocol for making the gym and equipment safe for us to use. The club is requiring everyone inside the building to wear masks and to sanitize their hands before beginning to work out, stairways are one direction, and all equipment is sanitized before and after working out during training. Since racquetball is not being played right now, the courts are being used by the trainers and clients so there’s lots of space to be physically distanced from each other (there’s just two of us in this court). There are hand sanitizing stations in various places in the building as well. The staff are making sure to count the # of people in the gym at any given time so that there’s plenty of space and no chance of any crowding at all. I feel safe using the gym in this manner, and Carlee makes me work much harder than I would if I was doing this on my own, especially because sometimes, at age 65, I just want to be lazy. She’s cheerful so it’s hard to get mad at her for making me bust my butt 😊

Such a great gym. Great equipment and a nice gym setup. Older feel to the gym but feels more personable. You don’t have to worry about someone trying to sell you on training every time you walk through the door. No gym bros and a very friendly staff. Normal membership pricing, lots of racket ball courts. They also have some beers on tap 🙂
